Day 27:  Rishikesh, India

I've been putting off my first blog entry for much too long.  There are so many ideas and topics I want to share, based on my own life experience but I figure there's no better subject to start with than right now.  After all, each life on this earth shares the same experience of the present moment.  As long as we are living we will always have this moment. Now. No one can take that away.

At this very moment I am sitting outside of a cafe in Rishikesh, India.  For those of you who don't know about Rishikesh, it is a city in the north of India.  It is considered to be a holy city as well as the yoga capital of the world.  A peaceful place built around the Ganga River and the footsteps of the Himalayas, many consider it much more quiet and slow paced than most other cities in India.  It's overall a very peaceful place, aside from the constant honking of motorbikes and 4x4 taxis.  Being a holy place, meat and alcohol are not allowed.  There are Ashrams and yoga schools all over and it is also home to the now abandoned ashram that the Beatles visited when they were in India years ago.  I've been here for nearly one month.  I decided to stop here for a couple months on my way back to New York from Sydney, where I lived for one year.  In past weeks I took two courses on Ayurveda and Ayurvedic Massage.  I'm now one week into a month long yoga teacher training course that comprises of 200 hours of classes.

In this blog I plan to write about my experiences traveling and learning about all the things I know little or nothing about.  I believe that our experience on earth is about learning, growing, teaching and helping one another to make this life the best that it can be.  After all, we are all one and the same so we may as well work together rather than again each other as many do.  I have many stories to share in the future moments of life but right now I have a meditation lecture to attend.  To be continued...

Namaste,

Katie
